Puttying the walls is the most popular type of interior decoration. It is necessary to apply only high-quality material for this work.
One of the most popular wall and ceiling products is Sheetrock putty. High-quality ready-made mixture of this brand is suitable for both a professional master and a beginner.
Features
The most important feature of Sheetrock putty is its versatility. It can serve both for decoration and decor, if it includes, for example, marble chips or vinyl filler.
Masters appreciate this mixture for its long service life.. The polymers contained in the finished mixture make the material reliable, protect the putty from cracking.
Putty of this brand can be purchased ready-made or buy dry mix for self-preparation of the solution. The difference will be in price (the first option is more expensive) and in the shelf life of the product (the dry mix has more).
No special skills are required to work with the finished Sheetrock putty. The range of application of putty is unlimited only by leveling the walls. It is also excellent for sealing joints, cracks.
The finished mixture can also save the master’s time.which would knead the dry mix, which helps to reduce the time for finishing.
The next important feature of this putty is the drying speed of the material and the conditions under which it can be worked. Depending on the thickness of the layer and the temperature in the room, the drying time of the material will be from three to five hours. Then the walls are polished. This putty can be used in rooms with high humidity.. The coating quality will be achieved by a high degree of putty adhesion.
One of the advantages of Sheetrock products is its resistance to cold. Up to ten cycles of freezing and thawing, provided that the mixture is thawed only at room temperature, can withstand the filling of this brand.
The versatility of the putty application adds to its advantages. It is used for leveling walls for painting, and it also fits perfectly with any type of wallpaper.
The advantage of the Sheetrock ready-mix is the material from which it is made. Its environmental friendliness will make it possible to make repairs both in children's rooms and in medical institutions.

From Sheetrock to Danogips
The Danogips brand (Danogips) belongs to the Danogips company. In Germany, everyone knows this brand of construction and decoration products, but in the domestic market this name is a novelty. The manufacturer produces dry and ready-made mixtures, primers, gypsum boards. The quality of the goods is very good, while the prices are quite economical.
Finished putty Sheetrock (Shitrok) also belongs to the Danogips brand, they went through a design change with a package update. In the CIS countries, up to 1/3 of the entire market for ready-made putties for walls is occupied by Shitrok. Now on sale there is a line of three products, called the umbrella brand Danogips, but retaining the composition and properties of Sheetrock.
Material characteristics
Technical characteristics of the material allow it to maintain leadership in the market for similar products. Here are its main parameters:
- drying time - 3-5 hours,
- ways to work with the mass - manual, mechanized,
- material application temperature - from +13 degrees,
- density - 1.65 kg / l,
- filling volume - sold in buckets of 3.5-17 liters.
The high density of the product can scare, because grinding the material is the more difficult the denser it is. But this does not apply to the Shitrok brand. Grinding the dried putty mass is very simple, for this purpose a mesh with a grain of 180 units is used.
Advantages and disadvantages
Which is better, Puttyro putty or other mixtures? This tool has a huge number of advantages that distinguish it from its analogues:
- You do not need to mix the tool, it is implemented in finished form. After opening, you can immediately start work, which will save time, effort.
- The material is universal, it is suitable for leveling walls and finishing. You do not have to buy another finish.
- The tool has a unique texture. The oiliness, smoothness, plasticity of the putty allows it to adhere perfectly to the spatula and wall. This greatly facilitates the work for the beginner. Ease of use is also due to the ease of rubbing and filling of the layer.
- The rather low consumption per 1 m2 of putty makes it attractive for those who value the calculation and try to save without loss in quality. Savings are due to the insignificant layer thickness, there is no need for a thick coating.
- The material is sold in containers of different volumes, you can choose the right one in each individual case.
- After drying, the surface will be very beautiful, smooth, pleasant to the touch, soil can be easily applied to it. The material does not shrink, the manufacturer guarantees a minimum of 5 years with the absence of even small cracks.
- Cheetrok will completely replace the primer. To do this, it just needs to be diluted with water to a liquid consistency, then used as a standard soil. Shitrok is also compatible with any brands of other building and finishing materials.
- The shelf life of the package after opening is several months. If you close the lid tightly and put the material away from heat sources, storage is allowed for a year. By the way, it can be frozen, for further use you need to defrost at room temperature.
Shitrok has not a lot of disadvantages. After applying to the wall, the shade of the material becomes not white, but light beige. This can adversely affect the color of the walls that are planned to be painted white. The disadvantages include the need for thorough surface preparation - it must be cleaned, degreased, leveled in the presence of gross irregularities and defects. If this is not done, the adhesion of the Shitrok with the base will decrease.
Danogips SuperFinish
The putty of the Superfinish category is a finishing material for the final decoration of the wall. Super finish - ready-made polymer mass with high adhesion quality, which is suitable for such surfaces:
- fiberglass
- drywall
- painted walls.
The tool is not suitable for closing large cracks, seams. Superfinish gives a perfectly smooth surface.
Danogips ProSpray
Danogypsum Pro spray is a multifunctional (universal) product that is suitable for every surface and any type of finish. They can make decorative surfaces, apply for sealing joints and cracks, align the joints of brickwork.
Application Technique
How to work with the material? There are no particular difficulties and differences from working with other putties. It is only important to prepare the surface for processing, while the humidity in the room should be minimal. To prepare, do the following:
- clean the walls of the old coating,
- level differences of more than 2 cm,
- make a primer.
After complete drying, you can begin to work with Shitrok. From the bucket take a little material, place in a convenient container, put on the floor or on a stand. Putty putty is taken with a spatula, applied to the wall in one thin layer. The thickness of the layer is 1-2 mm. After covering the entire wall, you need to take a break to dry - 3-5 hours. Then you can do the grinding. The consumption for fiberglass is higher, since 3 layers must be applied, in other cases 2 layers are sufficient.
There are some features in the application of putty in different ways. When finishing joints, the work is done as follows:
- take a spatula 12 cm, fill the seams with it using the finished mixture,
- put the tape in the center, push it in,
- remove the mass that has crawled out at the edges, apply it a little on top of the tape,
- seal the head fasteners with material (if necessary),
- after 3 hours, apply a second coat, sand as it dries.
When finishing the internal corners, putty is applied on 2 sides of the tape with a 12-centimeter putty knife. Then the tape is folded in the center, pressed to the corner with a spatula, the excess mass is removed. After drying, repeat the action 2 more times. At the end of the work, wipe the surface with a damp sponge.
Material consumption
Before starting work, it is important to use the calculator to calculate the required amount of material. Standard consumption - liter per 1 sq. M. It is spent more on joints of drywall sheets - it leaves 28 kg per 55 m of running seams, or 0.51 kg / m of running. When texturing is consumed 28 kg per 20 square meters. m, or 1.4 kg / sq. m
Sheetrock, Knauf Rothband Paste or Vetonit LR - which is better
The listed materials are the most popular among finishers. But there are features that must be considered when choosing. So, Chetrok creates the smoothest surface even without sanding. After grinding it must be primed, but without grinding this step can be skipped. Cheetrok is ideal for painting, the most durable.
Soil is necessarily applied over Vetonit, this material is best suited for the subsequent sticker on the wallpaper. The disadvantage of Vetonit in comparison with Shitrok is less ductility, but the color is perfectly white. Another drawback of Vetonit is the need for dilution, while Shitrok is a finished mass.
When comparing Shitrok and Rothband Pasta from Knauf, the following should be noted. There are few differences in the recipe; Knauf also makes high-quality material with small particles of marble and a polymer matrix. The surface after the finish coat from Knauf remains perfectly smooth, it does not need to be polished and sanded. Usually, “Rotband paste” is bought if a thicker layer is planned for sealing wall defects. Cheetrok suggests fine application - up to 2 millimeters. It is necessary to select material based on needs - then the quality of work will not cause complaints.
Scope of application
Putty Sheetrock is used not only to align walls for wallpaper or painting. The range of applications of the material is wide enough, which will help reduce the time spent on repairs, as well as finding the right material.
Using Sheetrock products you can:
- remove cracks on walls with different surfaces,
- easily align the walls,
- putty joints of drywall sheets,
- use it in your decor.
Putty Sheetrock is available in three versions, each of which has its own range of applications.
Their description:
- Sheetrock Fill Finish Light. This type of mixture is characterized by maximum strength. This is especially important when applying a thin layer. Basically, it is used for restoration. She is beautiful in tandem with drywall.
- Sheetrock Superfinish (Danogips). From the name itself, the purpose of the putty is clear - the finish. It is characterized by minimal shrinkage and is not used for sealing joints.
- Sheetrock All Purpose. Universal option. Suitable for closing joints in masonry, as well as for texturing, creating patterns and wall decor. The only factor in which this option is not recommended is the high humidity in the room.
In the room where finishing is done with any Sheetrock putties, the temperature should not be lower than 13 degrees. Both the first and subsequent layers are applied strictly to a dry surface.
The technology for creating Sheetrock wall cosmetics is constantly being improved to meet the most stringent requirements and needs of the client.
Variety of products
Sheetrock products are manufactured in America and five European countries. The reputation of quality has been earned by the manufacturer for a hundred years. Modern manufacturing techniques and a unique composition make the products a universal material for interior and exterior decoration.
Today on the construction market there are three main types of putty from the Ready-Mixed category (which means ready-to-use products):
- Sheetrock Fill Finish light. It is used to align minor defects, sometimes for laminating the surface. The latex component makes the material resistant to moisture and completely eliminates the possibility of cracking during operation.
- Sheetrock Superfinish. This is the finishing putty of Shitrok. It can be applied as a final finishing coat. The material has high adhesion, but not enough for screeding deep cracks and processing corners.
- Sheetrock All Purpose. This putty is considered universal, therefore suitable for any type of finish. The product is often used for texturing, sometimes used to fill the space in the brickwork.
The remarkable thing is that the products are constantly being improved and improved in accordance with the needs of modern finishers and installation technologies.
Advantages and disadvantages
Putty of this brand has many advantages that facilitate the work process and guarantee high quality leveling of wall surfaces. It is not necessary to apply the mixture in a thick layer - this is a significant saving in material, and, accordingly, in finance. The maximum number of layers applied is 3-4.
We highlight the main advantages of the material:
- Putty is completely ready for use, no need to knead and calculate the proportions.
- If necessary, the finished mixture can be diluted with water, using as a primer.
- The universal product has a white color, but there is a cream-colored putty, which is perfect for painting.
- The shelf life of an opened package is several months. If the factory packing method is completely repeated, then the mixture is stored after opening for another 1 year.
- Putty easily lays on any surface, completely hiding defects and cracks. It is applied with a conventional spatula or a special machine.
- Over time, the material does not shrink, you can not worry that in the next 5 years, cracks or chips will appear on the walls and ceiling.
- The cost of building material is moderate. Branded products are not much more expensive than other analogues.
- The product is compatible with any other building materials. Often applied to a primer or other types of putty, plaster.
- Thanks to the oily base, the material is consumed very economically. In the process of applying a little substance falls to the floor, most remains on the spatula.
In addition, due to thoughtful packaging, the mixture can be stored for a long time and does not deteriorate. Effectively copes with cracks and similar defects, making the surface perfectly smooth. There are practically no disadvantages in working with this type of finishing material. The ideal surface is worth the money that the manufacturer asks.
The only negative is the preparatory work that is necessary for applying the mixture. The surface should be clean, partially degreased and as level as possible. Such procedures are carried out necessarily, otherwise the adhesion of the putty to previously applied layers of plaster worsens.
How to choose?
The choice of the finished putty mixture is curled from the purpose of its application (full decoration of walls and ceilings, putty joints, decor). And if you choose between putty latex or acrylic, then the first option will definitely give odds to the second. Latex, unlike acrylic, is able to give the desired thickness to the putty mixture and create the necessary coating strength. Mix Sheetrock will be an excellent assistant in aligning walls and ceilings, glossing over joints and cracks, as well as in various decor solutions.
Numerous experiments conducted with this material have proven its quality, durability and versatility. A quality certificate confirms this.
Application Tips
The process of working with the finished sheetrock mixture is quite simple. Tools that are useful to apply the mixture to the surface are a spatula, a joint tape (you can use Sheetrock Joint Tape), an emery cloth and a sponge.
First of all, the walls are prepared: the old material is removed, the seams are sealed with tape, the surface is leveled, sanded, degreased. These manipulations are mandatory before applying putty. There should be no flaws on the surface. The contents of the freshly opened bucket with the putty mixture are mixed.
Place a small amount of Sheetrock putty on a wide spatula and apply the first coat with a stretching motion from ceiling to floor. It is important to know that it is applied strictly to a dry layer of plaster. A poorly dried surface threatens with the appearance of mold in the future.
Leave the first layer to dry completely (at least 3-5 hours). Only then can you start applying the second. To achieve maximum smoothness of the surface, many craftsmen recommend polishing it after each layer of putty with an abrasive mesh. Granularity from 180 to 240 units is best suited.. Layers can be from two to five. After all the work done, the dust-contaminated surface is cleaned.
If desired, a small amount of water can be added to the finished mixture. But do not get involved in this. Water is added a little and the whole mixture is thoroughly mixed. Too much water can cause putty properties to change., which in the future will affect the quality of work and durability of the material. It is strictly forbidden to mix Sheetrock putty mixture with other materials.
If the putty was suddenly frozen, it is necessary to thaw it at room temperature, and then stir the contents of the bucket until a homogeneous consistency and all bubbles disappear. All the mixture remaining after work is tightly closed with a lid and stored at room temperature.
Putty Sheetrock has long established itself in the market and has many positive reviews. You can use the putty as a master with experience, or an amateur who wants to make an easy, unreliable repair.
Masters who have already tried the ready-made Sheetrock putty mixture prefer it alone.
In the next video, you will find an overview of the finishing putty Sheetrock.
The composition and advantages of the material
Finishing putty is a ready-made polymer mixture. It consists of marble, a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It has a number of undeniable advantages, the main ones of which are:
- high degree of adhesion
- universality of application (suitable for drywall, glass canvas, pre-painted surfaces),
- low consumption
- the ability to withstand up to five cycles of freezing and thawing,
- high whiteness, reaching 88%,
- high drying speed, up to 24 hours depending on environmental conditions.
The material is easy to apply on the surface. The manufacturer recommends overlaying it with a layer of 2 mm and allows the possibility of repeated processing to achieve a better result. When working with such a mixture, complex preparatory measures, dosing and diluting the solution are not required - it is enough to thoroughly mix the putty with a construction mixer.
Scopes and features of work
Finishing putty shitrok for internal works is suitable. It can be used for any kind of wallpaper, paints, varnishes, decorative plaster, etc. The material is applied to the brick walls, plasterboard sheets. With it, you can fill in small seams, cracks, voids, process internal and external corners, prepare the surface for decoration and texturing. It does not enter into chemical reactions with other materials and does not emit harmful substances, including when heated. This makes it possible to use it in bedrooms, children's rooms and other living quarters.
For high-quality performance of work it is necessary to process surfaces. It is important to remove dust, dirt, impurities, peeling paint parts, etc. Significant defects must be filled with ordinary putty, which will help reduce the cost of repairs. You can work with the finished mixture in rooms with a low level of humidity and a temperature of 13 degrees. If a large volume of tasks is expected, the use of material directly from the factory capacity is allowed. In other situations, mix thoroughly and transfer part of the putty into another clean container.
